Our number one priority is to satisfy our customers. It can be as simple as that. We are proud to serve in Colchester County and to continue to build long-lasting relationships with our clients in Truro.

The customer motto at S. Sorensen Electric Ltd. is “if you’re not happy, we’re not happy – and we like being happy”.
2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the business first opening our doors in Truro. Sadly, 2018 was also the year that marked the passing of Steve Sorensen, Sr., who started the business by himself back in 1968.
After receiving his electrical trade in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Steve Sr. moved with his family to Truro in 1964 to work as head electrician at CFS Debert. Only a few years later, he decided to start his own electrical contracting and service business, not knowing at the time that it would become the successful, family business it is today, over 50 years later.
The business has grown over the years to more than 20 employees, including Steve Sorensen Jr. and his son Nicholas. Steve Jr. has been a part of the business since he was fifteen years old, and Nicholas joined the team on a part time basis while he was still in high school.
In 2017, we were awarded the Small Business Achievement Award during the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards, recognizing our ability to continually adapt to changing technologies.
It has always been a priority to offer both personal and professional development opportunities for our staff on a regular basis. As a result, we boast a culture of positivity, with our employees as the driving force. The passion of our employees is reflected in their commitment to quality service to our customers.
Being active members of the community is also an important part of the Sorensen Electric culture. In addition to financially supporting local minor
sports, the SPCA, Marigold Cultural Centre and other local organizations over the years, we are members of the Rotary Club of Truro and helped with the development of the Truro Homeless Outreach Society shelter in downtown Truro.
From the beginning, we have been active in mentoring young apprentices to hone their skills into accomplished electricians. Local, qualified high school students also have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience to see if they are interested in pursuing a career as an electrician.
With a continued focus on electrical contracting and repairs, new construction, small residential and larger commercial projects, re-wiring upgrades, alarms, renovations and more, S. Sorensen Electric Ltd. is a family business whose name has become synonymous with quality, efficiency and outstanding service in Colchester County.

We wouldn’t be here without the continued support of the people in Truro and Colchester. We hope to be around for another 50 years!
